Noodler's Purple Heart - Fountain Pen Ink Review

I have to apologize that my scanner didn't seem to capture the color correctly. It's dark, but not as dark as my scan shows. The scan makes it seem black, but it's actually a rich, dark purple. The two other colors at the bottom right also aren't as dark as they seem. I tried to color correct it but I couldn't get it to come out right, so I left it as-is.

  1. Nice review, Derek! Might have to pick up a sample of this, at least.

  2. I never could get my scanner to capture ink colors properly, that's why I switched to a camera + natural light for my reviews. Even then I still need to post-process most of the images because the color on the screen still doesn't match what's on paper.

  3. I'm thinking I will do that in the future. I was planning on doing it when I found out how poorly the scan turned out on this one, but we haven't had a sunny day since I posted this review. Cloudy & gloomy doesn't make for very good natural lighting on a picture of a review. :)

  5. Hmmm... You probably just have to adjust a couple of things with your scanner, or maybe it's just one of those things scanners do. I find the photos so pretty. The handwriting is so author-ish. This makes me want to get my own fountain pen soon. :D

  7. Ruby -- I do not know if they're still available, but try purchasing a Parker Reflex on eBay. I think I got mine for around $10, and they're fantastic pens for the price. A great starter pen. You could also try a Pilot Varsity 3-pack from an office supply store such as Staples or OfficeMax. Best of luck! :)
